Industrialization In modern day America, definitive social gaps between the lower, middle and upper classes are still prevalent. In the industrial era, however, these gaps were much larger. The middle class didnt bring into being incredibly influential until later. In the beginning of industrialization,the upper crust of society was very small. It reigned supreme, while the majority of large, metropolitan populations were held in poverty.
