History shows that multiple battles thought to be fought by this mythary King Of Camelot was genuinely fought by a british war leader Ambrosius Aurelianus, the historic prototype for King Arthur.
King Arthur was first mentioned by get word in history by welsh cleric Nennius in historia brittonum (history of the britains), some 300 years after King Arthurs presumable death. Nennius lists 12 battles which Arthur supposively led his people to victory including the battle in Mount Badon against the saxons AD500. If Arthur was indeed active in that region misapprehension lines are produced which do non add up with the legend and history as Arthur is said to be combating against saxons but the saxons had not reached the area until the late 6th century.
In my disussion of King Arthur and his excistance I will look at the Arthurian legends and its development everywhere time and the writing of many historians who have studied King Arthur and the ways in which he was porttrayed.
Through my response I will discern whether King Arthur actually existed either through somone else such as Aurelianus or if King Athur was just a figure of legend, whose enduring importance lies in his use by succesive elds as a symbol of a past gloden age of knightly virtue, right government and peace.
