Edward doubting doubting Thomas Edward Thomas normally considered a war poet, even though only of some of his poems deal with the war experiences. After being a produce journalist, Thomas only turned to poetry in 1914. In 1915 Edward Thomad joined the army, later killed during the Battle of Arras in 1917. Thomas was born in Lambeth, London. He attended school at Battersea Grammer school, St Pauls School and Lincoln College, Oxford. His family were mostly Welsh.
Unusually, he married while still an undergraduate and determined to screw his life by the pen. Hes beginning job was a bind reviewer, almost up to 15 book every week. He came to be a seasoned writer during the outbreak of the war. ulterior he came to write the noval Happy-Go-Lucky Morgans. Later on he became a close friend of Welsh tramp poet W. H. Davies whose public life he almost single-handedly developed. Thomas lived with his wife Helen and their family, at Elses Farm near Sevenoaks. On routine Thomas even had to found time for the humansufacture, by a local wheelwright, of a wooden leg for Davies.
Thomas became a poet at the end of 1914 even though he impression that poetry was the highest form of literature and regularly reviewed it. He initially published some poetry under the name Edward Eastaway. By August 1914, the village of Dymock in Gloucestershire had become the residence of a number of literary figures including Lascelles Abercrombie, Wilfrid Gibson and American poet Robert Frost. Edward Thomas was a visitant at this time. The railway station at Adlestrop was immortalised by Thomas when his train made an unscheduled stop there in short before the First World War. In July 1915, Thomas enlisted in the Artists Rifles despite being a mature married man who could have avoided enlisting.
