I had an opportunity to provide personal care for a client on my mental wellness placement. The client was un open to bath because she was highly demented and she wasnt equal to(p) to perform tasks like bathing and eating.
Before I assisted with the bathing I made certainly that I was being accompanied with a competent carer who had had experience with the client. I then asked her a few questions about the client since I couldnt read all her unit. I made sure I enquired about and understood the clients bathing history and preferences.
When we got to the room we knocked at her door to make the client aware that we were coming in the room. There was no responds moreover the care assistance asked as to go in. she then explained to me that the client is not able to process any information at all and therefore will not be able to answer or understand us.



She was also not able to communicate or understand any conversation so it was important for decisions to be made for her but based on her care plans and her history that is what she liked. We entered and made sure the door was fold to protect her dignity and maintain her privacy. Although it was important for the client to make up ones mind on what and how she would like to be bathed carers had to decide on what to do in such case. In deciding therefore, the state or the mood of the client must be taken into consideration.
I then mentioned my name and asked her if it was alright to be in her room. Although she did not give any answer she gave us a smile. These I think give me the assurance that she trusted us and she comprise it safe for as to be in the room.
