Purpose: To show how Mitigation crosses all phases of a wide Management System. If each phase stood alone the cycle would non continue and mitigation would stop. Mitigation is extremely important by the use of preemptive programs, education and codes during the Recovery Phase.
Over the away ten years in that location have been a digit of disasters throughout the world. A recent disaster was the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010. The appalling loss of life from the earthquake has at a time been estimated by the government to exceed 230,000 (Wells 2010). Since 1999 The Florida International Volunteer corps (FAVACA) has been working to mitigate other hazards in Haiti. They have aided Haiti in planting trees and grass to mitigate land slides and deluge (FAVACA 2010).



Due to the tumultuous political environment the funds accepted for these mitigation projects come from nonprofit disaster aid organizations. A number of governments at all levels wealthy and poor crossways the world to include Haiti, have buried their heads in the linchpin in regards to disaster mitigation affecting the construction of homes and commercial message buildings. Haiti was known to be at risk for a major(ip) earthquake due to a buildup of stress along the dent line upon which Port-Au-Prince sits. Haitian Officials were also aware of the citys risk, but did little to address its vulnerabilities (Battistoni 2010).
In regards to preparedness there was little to no Emergency Preparedness in Haiti, with regards to its buildings or government services for example; water, sewer or any established enforced codes specific to buildings or infrastructure.
