Communication in the workplace is essential and occurs every daytime; everyone is capable of communicating and we all do, but that doesnt mean we are impelling communicators. I am going to point on the importance of becoming a more effective communicator in the workplace through nonverbal colloquy. Kory Floyd suggests that we often relay more information through nonverbal communication, than we do by using words alone (Floyd p. 211).



With evidence from Floyd suggesting that our nonverbal communication is going to convey the majority of our intended message, it is important that we date what our nonverbal conduct is saying to others and learn how it can be used to our advantage. Darwin (1872/1969) wrote that our facial expressions, such as smiles and frowns, are not learned but are biologically determined. (E.Jandt, 2010, p. 106)
I am excited to explore how we can use nonverbal behavior to our advantage in the workplace. The major categories of nonverbal communications involve the following:

? Posture, paralinguistic communication expression
? Gesture touch, locomotion
? Pacing, adornment context
? Physiologic responses
